August 14 | Thursday

Next day tae the castle we toddled along,
Eilean Donan by name an’ wi’ wa’s gey strong
That visit complete (it didna tak long)
We reached Kyle bye an’ bye
Then doon tae the ferry an’ quotin’ the song,
‘Over the sea to Skye’.

The misty isle they call it – My!
All that we saw made that a lie.
The Cuillins, etched against a sky
O’ cloudless blue.
An’ beauty that impressed the eye,
View upon view.

We ambled on an’ reached Portree,
Got settled there for B. an’ B.,
Then, washed an’ fed, walked down tae see
The boats in the harbour.
We hope the midges in years tae be,
Will ha’e curbed their ardour.
