New Cumnock Liaison Group to Improving New Cumnock

The New Cumnock Liaison Group (NCLG) the foreunner of Improving New Cumnock was established in 2007 to facilitate the sustainable regeneration and economic development of New Cumnock. It associates itself with New Cumnock Community Council (NCCC), East Ayrshire Council (EAC) and East Ayrshire Coalfield Environment Initiative (CEI) to make New Cumnock a better place in which to live and visit.

The NCLG operates small sub-groups to help progress a wide range of projects covering topics such as derelict /disused buildings, sustainable energy, leisure pursuits and heritage. The NCLG believes that through making our heritage more participative and visible to the wider community and visitors alike can influence a positive change in the perception of New Cumnock. In particular, the NCLG is mindful of the opportunity to actively engage our young citizens in our heritage in support of the ‘Curriculum for Excellence’.

The NCLG believed that through making our heritage more participative and visible to the wider community and visitors alike can influence a positive change in the perception of New Cumnock. Improving New Cumnock (INC) is an organisation which is a Registered Company SC368116 and a Registered Scottish Charity No SC046328 it has similar guiding principals of the NCLG,

• To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of New Cumnock and its environs without distinction of age, sex, sexuality, political, religious or other opinions by associating the local statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort.
• To promote and work towards the advancement of citizenship of community development (including rural or urban regeneration and the promotion of civic responsibility and volunteering) for benefit of the inhabitants of New Cumnock.
• To advance arts, heritage, culture or science.
• To promote the provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of a wide range of recreational activities, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the persons for whom the facilities or activities are primarily intended.
• To promote health and wellbeing through the advancement of public participation in sport that will involve exertion and skills at all levels of abilities.
• To promote the advancement of environmental protection and improvement by the acquisition of land, through long-term lease, gift, or outright purchase, for the provision and maintenance of a public garden or gardens, so that their conditions may be improved.
• To promote the relief of the inhabitants of New Cumnock and its environments who are in need by reason of age; ill health; disability; financial hardship or other disadvantage including relief given by the provision of accommodation or care.
• To advance education of the public through training and opportunities to develop individual capabilities, skills and understanding.
